Darrell Cavanaugh
Darrell thoroughly enjoys helping financial advisors and insurance producers diversify, grow and retain their business by leveraging the American Business partner-assisted model. Darrell’s focus is to help provide creative and effective planning solutions for the needs of their clients in minimizing taxes, business continuity succession planning and wealth transfer while helping them build the life insurance component of their individual practices. He is excited to join American Business to help people secure their financial future and protect the ones they love.
Darrell’s diverse career background includes 28 years of channel sales/sales management in the technology industry and 16 years in the insurance/financial services industry including previous ownership of both a State Farm® agency (Laguna Beach, CA) and an Allstate® agency (Las Vegas, NV) where he was a Million Dollar Round Table® qualifier. Prior to joining American Business, he worked with the Financial Services Group. He was also the business development manager for MassMutual’s Workplace business for the Western US (2013-2017) and previously worked in a similar role for The Hartford (2008-2012). Licenses include FINRA Series 6/63, Life/Accident/Health, LTC, Annuity and P&C. Darrell has earned the Chartered Retirement Plan Specialist (CRPS®) designation from the College for Financial Planning. He prides himself in bringing a value-added team-oriented philosophy to building successful partnerships.
A former college basketball player at UNLV, he represented California in the US National Senior Games Championships and was recently named to the USA 65 Basketball Team that competed in the FIMBA World Basketball Championships held in 2019 in Helsinki, Finland where they won the Gold Medal defeating Russia 70-66 in the championship game. He also enjoys golf, surfing, is a novice birder and is crazy about his two female Whippets. Although currently taking a break, Darrell has 23 years of service in Rotary International® and he coached numerous youth sports teams when his kids were growing up.
Darrell lives with Debbie, his wife of 41 years, in Mission Viejo, CA near their oldest daughter in Lake Forest, CA and their son in Playa Vista, CA. They enjoy visiting their other daughter in the Seattle, WA area. The Cavanaugh’s are intensely proud of their 3 children and 5 grandchildren.
